International Scope: The Canadian operation was acquired by the parent located in Oxford England. The Canadian operation covers the Americas for sales, marketing, applications and product development.
The company has a history of acquisition and we are always looking for new ventures. In 2003 Meta acquired ISS to strengthen our position in the tube and pipe sector. In 2004 we launched an office in Bejing China and in 2005 we acquired another competitor, SCOUT to build our presence in Germany.
We are very active in building our international network and have a large web of strategic channel partners and dealers. Through this web we are able to be " glocal " - a global presence and local in response and nature.
Products: The core of Meta's expertise lies in a rugged, high resolution,
laser-based industrial sensor, proprietary high speed image
processing hardware and a specialized software environment.
This combination permits accurate 3D measurement under harsh
production conditions.
Successful applications of Meta's machine vision products include seam tracking systems for the weld machine market and vision guidance for robotic welding.

Unique Applications: In 2003, Meta developed a very accurate measuring system to identify gap value during the fabrication of sand screens for the oil industry. The criteria was to provide gap value and mismatch value feedback to the machinery to produce a consistent gap. The vision was developed as an online inspection system.
The net result as identified by the president of the company: My dad taught me to believe in the inherent goodness of people. Sometimes that philosophy is reaffirmed by the actions of people I work with.
The first unit is on line and producing screen with less than +/-.001" tolerance. This is phenomenal
and won't go unnoticed in the industry. We are about to sell a 2nd unit, I believe in 4 weeks or less. I propose to add 1 year to the exclusivity agreement with the delivery of each new unit.
