Success Stories: Health Region Four Selects Vendor to Manage Biomedical Waste
November 14, 2002
Regional Health Authority Four (RHA #4), which includes Regina, today selected Biomed Recovery and Disposal of Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, to manage the disposal of biomedical waste. The company will be responsible for safely processing and disposing of anatomical waste, blood and body fluids, sharps (including needles and scalpels) and other biomedical waste.
"Biomed provides the health region with a comprehensive package that leads to the safe processing and disposal of biomedical waste," said Donna Evans, the Health Region's Vice President of Operations Support. "This company's proposal was financially attractive and their waste management practices were sound." Evans also noted that Biomed's service and experience in the waste disposal business was reflected in the fact that its clients include all three of Saskatoon's hospitals and the Five Hills Health Region, which includes Moose Jaw.
The Health Region selected the vendor after an open tender process to bid on the three year contract.
