Technology:
Superconducting nano-junction sensors (SNS) are unique detectors of THz radiation with a very high sensitivity. Nanometer-size junctions are made with a high critical temperature superconductor (HTS), and they can operate at frequencies up to 5 THz. For realization of these characteristics it is necessary to create nanometer-size junctions on bicrystal substrates, which are fabricated by a solid state intergrowth in high vacuum, high temperature. Nano-junctions are formed by direct e-beam lithography and are integrated with planar antennas.
