A Canadian project management consulting firm; Blue Wilderness Management Group Inc. (BW) Principal owner, Julie Scarcella has worked in Ontario and has gained a reputation for the provision of excellent nature base tourism and project management services. The firm started in Collingwood, Ontario, in 1997 as a small consulting firm and incorporated in 2002. Today it is a specialized Canadian consulting service that offers a full range of professional services relating to the project management, sustainable strategic planning, conservation, tourism resource assessment, government relations, funding application, government relations, green procument, energy efficient design, and expertise on partnership negotiations involving First Nations.
The development of sustainable communities and green building initiatives has been our core focus since 1997, a service that provides innovation and implementable solutions to municipalities, retail, developers, institutions, and building owners/occupants. We have been leaders in supporting the adoption of sustainable building practices by becoming an active member with the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC), both Toronto Ontario and Cascadia BC member.
Our inspiration has stemmed the Whistlers BC Comprehensive Sustainable Plan and have committed to learning this format for the past five years. We have also been a company leader in developing the missing ‘nutrition label€™ for building products by developing virtual on line database called EcoSpex Canada. This tool will enable the end user access to quality assured green building materials across Canada. Along the way we have been active in the formulation and implementation of green building guidelines, strategies and practices. Where appropriate we have adopted green building rating systems including LEED and other rating programs from other countries. In 1998-1999 the company was funded by National Research Council (IRAP) program to evaluate world wide rating programs, which include the LEED program, our findings have allowed our firm to adopt many sustainable programs into our core objectives.
Since 1998, the company has had a Memorandum of Understanding with Ontario Parks; developing policy for commercial services in the provincial park system, our goal is to deliver a pilot project LEED Gold Ecolodge in the Ontario Park System. Our strategy plan identified the need for a private sector partnership within a provincial park. Our journey has allowed our team to focus on the much-needed policy changes, masterplaning, commercial services agreement, Ecolodge strategic plan and lease agreements for private sector and the crown.
