Established in 1966, Centennial is Ontario's first public college, serving the eastern portion of the Greater Toronto Area through four campuses and two satellite locations. Its record is one of exemplary teaching, innovative programming and extensive partnership building. Recognized as one of the most culturally diverse postsecondary institutions in Canada, almost 100 ethno-cultural groups are represented and 80 languages are spoken on campus.
Centennial has a student population of 14,400 full-time students and 27,000 part-time learners. It has an annual operating budget of approximately $148 million and employs 2,000 full- and part-time staff and faculty.
Centennial offers more than 100 diploma and certificate programs in business, communication arts, community and consumer services, engineering technology, health sciences and transportation. These career-oriented programs emphasize practical experience, such as laboratory learning, work placement, individual and group projects and paid co-op education.
Centennial has recently developed eight degree-related programs. Of these, two are four-year applied degree programs in computer and communication networking, and software systems design. Centennial also has five joint-degree programs with the University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC), and a collaborative nursing program with Ryerson University.

Technology:
Our award-winning Centre for Creative Communications in East York
is one of Canada's best multimedia training facilities. The Centre
represents a $37-million investment in training technology by the
public and private sectors, with strong ties to the industry.
Home to the only Ontario Centre of Entrepreneurship run by a
college, Centennial is also noted for business education. Almost 600
business, community and government leaders serve on program
advisory committees which guide our career-oriented programs,
keeping them responsive and relevant to the needs of the
employment market.
Centennial operates the country's largest transportation training
facility, with more than $30 million worth of aircraft, vehicles
and equipment. The college has a long history of cooperation with
the automotive industry, including partners General Motors, Ford
of Canada, Honda/Acura, Toyota Canada, Canadian Tire, Freightliner
and Volvo Trucks.
The Centennial Science and Technology Centre is a high-tech campus devoted to Health Sciences and Environmental Life Sciences. Among other things, the campus hosts a disaster simulation twice annually to test the emergency and pandemic plans of area hospitals in a major initiative operated by the Applied Research - Innovation Centre (ARIC) and supported by the federal and provincial governments.

Success Stories: Canadian bank CIBC has long been a strong partner of Centennial College. Most recently, it participated in a job shadowing project that saw 12 Chinese nationals come to Centennial during the summer of 2007 to study the Canadian banking system. As part of their training, they enjoyed the opportunity to job shadow at four CIBC retail outlets for three weeks to learn first-hand about customer service. With the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, the Chinese government is keen to introduce new levels of customer service in its banks. The representatives from Tianjin Rural Credit Cooperatives Union (TRCCU) bank found the experience extremely enlightening - thanks to the assistance of CIBC.
In late 2009, Centennial's School of Transportation won a $8.5-million international contract to provide all dealership training for General Motors Middle East (GMME) in the 10 Middle Eastern countries where it does business. The contract is a continuation of an initial Core Training contract for GM automotive technicians at six Middle East training centres which Centennial won in 2002, beating out several large international bidders. The three-plus-two-year contract builds on the tremendous success the school has had in its relationship with one of the world's largest automobile manufacturers. In addition to teaching out of GM's Middle East Training Centre in Dubai, Centennial is home to a GM-ASEP modified apprenticeship program in Scarborough and operates the Canadian General Motors Training Centre in Richmond Hill. Centennial College has also extended General Motors technical training in Africa and the Philippines.
