Company Overview
- Founded in 1991 to specialize in Northern Shrimp.

Harvesting
Through the affiliated company
Acadienne Gale Fisheries the company owns and operates an
offshore factory freezer shrimp trawler, the F/V
Acadienne Gale II. General management of this vessel is
performed
from the Newfoundland office of Davis Strait Management.
This vessel operates year-round off the eastern coast of
Newfoundland, Labrador and Baffin Island with a yearly quota of
roughly 5,000 metric tonnes of Northern Shrimp. This quota is
secured through two separate long term license agreements with
a New Brunswick firm and an
Inuit concern.
The Shrimp is frozen and packed at sea in three forms: l. Cooked principally for European and Asian markets;
2. Raw - for the Japanese market and;
3. Raw - for domestic cooking and peeling.
Importing
Davis Strait Fisheries has become one of the largest importers
of frozen and wetsalted raw material for sales to Canadian fish
plants for further processing. Fish is sourced from Norway,
Denmark, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Russia. Customers are
located in all four Maritime provinces as well as in Quebec and
New England. The principal products are frozen Headed and
Gutted Atlantic Cod, Pacific Cod, Haddock, Pollock as well as
Wetsalted Cod and Pollock.
1996 saw the company continue to develop new markets with the
introduction of Russian Scallops and Greenlandic Snow Crab to
their North American customers.
Exporting
Davis Strait works very closely with many Canadian seafood
processors to assist with sales and marketing in international
markets.
In the raw material category the company exports shell-on shrimp
to Asian producers for further processing. In terms of value-
added and secondary processed items Davis Strait is active with
the following: *Cooked, Shell on Northern Shrimp
*Cooked and Peeled Shrimp
*Salted Codfish
*Prepared dishes
*Processed lobster products.
Fisher King Seafoods Ltd. is a affiliated company established
in 1996 with Mr. Tor Conklin to sell processed seafood products
primarily in the United States with secondary focus on Europe
and Asia.
Overall group sales were slightly over CDN $48 million for 1998

Award, recognizing its strong achievements in the field.
