Frac Rite Environmental is an independently owned, Canadian company that was formed to provide Hydraulic Fracturing and Permeation Injection services to the environmental industry. We are the first and only environmental service company in Canada to offer commercial soil fracturing services to enhance the in-place remediation of contaminated sites.
Frac Rite works in conjunction with environmental consultants, government agencies, other environmental service companies, and/or directly with owners/operators of contaminated sites to provide cost-effective solutions to the remediation of contamination in low permeability, "problem soils" such as silts and clays, and bedrock. Since 1993, Frac Rite personnel have placed thousands of fractures to expedite the remediation of contaminated sites in Canada, the United States, Asia, and Europe.
Environmental Fracturing at sites underlain by contaminated, low permeability sediments is achieved through the FRAC RITE(TM) process of physically splitting the soil and placing high permeability sand layers in the resulting fractures. This enables the rapid movement of contaminants through the high permeability sand layers to recovery wells. Subsurface contaminants are thereby removed or treated in place at a much greater rate than by using conventional remedial technologies alone. Environmental Fracturing is a relatively non-disruptive method of remediating soils and groundwater because far fewer recovery wells are needed to remediate a site. This process also eliminates the need for costly disruption and excavation or ex situ remediation of sites underlain by low permeability soils.
Environmental Fracturing has been applied to sites comprising a variety of soil types including glaciolacustrine clays, clay and silt tills, and silty sands for the remediation of, among others: gasoline stations in urban areas; refineries and fuel storage terminals; military sites; industrial manufacturing plants; gas processing plants in remote settings; brownfield redevelopments and, landfills.
Environmental Fracturing is being coupled with other innovative technologies such as horizontal drilling, in situ chemical oxidation, and in situ bioremediation to remediate sites even faster and at less cost. Frac Rite has developed the BIO FRAC(TM) process to emplace various biological amendments to remediate sites naturally.
Fractures and treatment amendments emplaced by fracturing can be mapped using "tiltmeter geophysics" technology which provides a three-dimensional visualization of fractures and amendment distribution in the subsurface without the need for investigative boreholes or excavations.
Frac Rite Environmental Ltd. is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and is actively pursuing markets in North America and internationally with industry partners. Potential joint ventures and/or strategic alliances/licensing opportunities would be considered with interested companies to pursue these markets .

Services:
Enhanced, in situ physical, chemical, or biological remediation of low permeability soils, Fracture and treatment amendment mapping services, Permeation injection services for in situ remediation

Technology:
The FRAC RITE(tm) process was developed to hydraulically
fracture low permeability soils and rock to accelerate the
recovery or treatment of subsurface contaminants. Fracturing is
conducted using proprietary down-hole fracturing equipment
designed for various soil types and operational depths. The
resulting network of fractures created in the soil contain high
permeable sand to keep the fractures open and to act as pathways
for the rapid recovery or in-place treatment of contaminants.
The FRAC RITE(tm) process can also be used for injecting
biological amendments or chemical reagents with the sand in
order to degrade contaminants while also providing enhanced soil
permeability. The FRAC RITE(tm) process has been proven to be a
cost-effective alternative to conventional remediation,
resulting in significant cost savings to our clients.

Sector:
Plant Information: Total Plant Size (Areas sq ft): 2 Fracturing Units: EF9300 skid mounted Frac machine
