BOATING EDUCATION AND PRACTICAL INSTRUCTION
Established in 1980 and under continuous ownership of Fran and Bruce Stott.
A Canadian Yachting Association member school.
Services offered to sailors, powerboaters, fisherman, kayakers include: Pleasure Craft Operator Card examination, Any person operating any powered recreational vessel less that 4 metres must have proof of competency.
VHF Marine radio course and examination, If you operate a vessel with a VHF radio, you are required to have an Operator Certificate, ROC-M.
Home-study Coastal Navigation leading to CYA certification. Upon completion you will be able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a cruising yacht in coastal or inland waters.
On the water courses to CYA standards: Basic Crew – To be able to act as a competent crew while cruising safely in familiar waters aboard a sloop rigged keelboat yacht of 6 – 10 metres in moderate wind and sea conditions by day.
Basic Cruising – To be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a sailing yacht of 6 – 10 metres in moderate wind and sea conditions by day.
Intermediate Cruising – To be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a sailing yacht of 8 – 12 metres in moderate wind and sea conditions by day. Emphasizes on the water live aboard skills. This is the recommended minimum qualification for bareboat chartering.
Basic Outboard – To be able to operate safely in familiar waters an outboard propelled vessel under 6 metres in length powered by an outboard engine under 75 horsepower.
Basic Powerboat – To be able to operate safely in familiar waters a vessel over 6 metres in length powered by an engine over 75 horsepower.
Intermediate Powerboat – To be able to operate safely in familiar waters a power driven vessel over 8 meters propelled by an inboard-outboard or inboard engine. This standard emphasizes live aboard cruising skills.

As the Senior Instructor with West Coast Powerboat Handling, I also teach Marine Emergency Duties A3(MED A3) and Small Vessel Operator Proficiency(SVOP) to Non-Pleasure Operators in the commercial sector.
