Human Factors North Inc. (HFN), incorporated in 1982, is a
Canadian human factors engineering and ergonomics consulting
company involved in the application of biomechanical,
physiological, psychological, sociological and engineering
factors to the design and evaluation of complex systems,
workstations, work practices, work organization, tools and
equipment. The goal of human factors engineering and ergonomics
is to increase worker health and safety, to increase efficiency
and to reduce human error.
HFN's consultants have extensive experience in industrial,
transportation, health care, administrative and defence
operations. Principal consultants have contributed extensively
to research in human factors engineering and are affiliated with
engineering and psychology research departments at major
universities in Canada. HFN's consultants have acted as expert
witnesses in various types of legal cases, including a Royal
Commission of Inquiry, where human factors issues are of
concern. HFN has provided research, consulting, training and
design services across Canada, in the U.S.A., in France and in
Israel.
