The James Bay Walleye Fishing Tournament was founded in 1999 by residents of Chapais that wanted to organize a mega fishing
tournament in their town. Tourism is an important attribute for the local economy which is based on natural resources exploitation.

The James Bay Walleye Fishing Tournament is the most important fishing tournament in Québec with more than 110 000$ in cash and prizes going to the winners of both categories : AMATEUR (Opémiska, James Bay, Feminine and Youth contests) and PROFESSIONAL for teams looking for a higher challenge. The tournament takes place nearby the Lake Opémisca, about 10km away from Chapais.The 9th edition of this event will be held from June 19 to 28, 2008.

You can find there a vast parking lot (free of charge), the reception office, bathroom installations, two disembarcation ramps, as well as docks and camping sites.
