Over the past ten years, Johnston Research Inc. has contributed to the excellence of Aboriginal services by providing quality and appropriate evaluation and research-based services to Aboriginal early childhood, education, health, and social service organizations and projects. Unique Applications: Johnston Research Inc. has developed an Aboriginal based evaluation tool named the Waawiyeyaa (Circular) Evaluation Model, as wella s leading the evaluaitn field in using technology to enhance the oral and visual reporting of evaluation findings.
While the foundation for this model centres on the individual, First Nations people believe that what affects the individual extends to the family, community, and finally the nation. In this respect evaluation is inherent in Aboriginal teachings because as individuals improve so too do organizations - a continual improvement.

Success Stories: In 2009, we completed a two-year formative and summative evaluation of the Early Childhood Development Demonstration Project. For this project we visited all but one of the 17 projects and produced two newsletters to update communities on the evaluation findings part way through and again at the end. The final report was presented at a Minister's meeting as a contributor to the discussion on the future of the ECD single window efforts.
