L-M Equipment manufactures electric chain deck saws and pond
saws
for the forest industry.
Deck saws with sawbars of up to 12 feet in length are used to
cut
the largest of logs, and are also used to split logs length-ways
so
they can be introduced into the mill flow and processed with
smaller capacity equipment. Hydraulic crossaxe logsplitters
with
up to 80,000 pounds thrust are offered, to split logs up to 10
feet
in length.
To assist shake and shingle mills to handle larger logs, L-M
manufactures log decks, special log stops, log lifts, log
clamps,
block lifters and pantograph block splitters to produce shake
blocks. When the market required a high-speed shake resaw, L-M
offered the model RS42-B, a redesigned 42
