A service company providing Quality Assessment Management to the
hospitality and transportation industries, food suppliers and
retailers using state of the art computerized Integrated Food and
Services Quality Management (IFSQM©) system.
Medina Foods Inc. - Company Background
Danielle Medina, President and CEO of Medina Foods Inc.,
graduated from Laval University in 1971 with a science degree in
Dietetics, went on to receive a Masters Degree from Université de
Montréal, and in September of 1980 opened Nutri-Centre Medina,
whit the intention of improving the health and well-being of all
Canadians.
The direction of the Company began to materialize with the
development of a nutritional software program that enabled Medina
to provide personalized nutritional evaluations for use in
private consultations, and to employees of large corporations
such as Johnson and Johnson. The program also enabled the
company to conduct nutritional research in the area of infant
nutrition for food companies such as H.J. Heinz, to develop
NUTRI-TEST (nutrition education software) for Uncle Ben's Canada
and Videoway Quebec, NUTRI-ACTION (assessment programs) for the
Coaching Association of Canada and most importantly to launch
NUTRI-CUISINE, a software program for the development and
analysis of recipes and menus aboard Air Canada flights, for
which Medina received 3 international awards. It quickly became
apparent that the stamp of the Company, the Medina Mark of
Qualityâ„¢, was to serve as a symbol of honesty, integrity and a
commitment to excellence in the quality of services provided.
It was the success of this innovative concept that led to both
Medina's expansions into the international market, and the
Company's latest success - IFSQM, a state of the art Integrated
Foods and Services Quality Management program. The new program
extends the quality review to all steps of the process, including
assessments of the logistics of food transportation, production,
maintenance of inventory for equipment and more importantly, food
safety. IFSQM, which ensures that in-flight meals prepared by
caterers around the world and verified in its quality and
conformity to nutritional specification by Medina specialists in
nutrition and quality management, received international
recognition from professional organizations such as IFCA
(International Flight Catering Association), IFSA ( International
Flight Services Association) and the widely distributed Travel
and Leisure Magazine, published by American Express.
Medina's concern for the health and well-being of all Canadians,
coupled with her experiences in the food industry, led to the
creation of Canadian Native Haute Cuisine developed in
conjunction with Oudeehemin Foods Inc., owned in majority by the
Cree Indians of the province of Quebec. The unique cuisine
presented at the World Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt in 1992,
won 8 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze. In 1994,
Medina organized the prestigious banquet of The American Society,
while in 1995, she was asked to cater the G-7 Summit in Halifax.
The success of Canadian Native Haute Cuisine can be attributed,
in no small part, to high caliber of taste and nutrition, backed
by the Medina Mark of Quality â„¢.
As proof of her dedication to improve the well being of not only
Canadians, but Canada as well, Danielle, in conjunction with
major Chefs de cuisine such as Paul Bocuse, and the New Brunswick
Government, launched Lobster Nouveau, in early 1993. The aim of
the project was to promote Canadian lobsters in France during the
spring season. This innovative and daring project was such a
success, that experience was repeated. Now, the Atlantic Lobster
carries with it the Medina Mark of Quality â„¢, signifying the
strict adherence to criteria concerning the weight, wrapping,
transportation and preparation of lobster. The Medina Mark of
Quality â„¢, thus remains a symbol of quality assurance of each and
every product bearing its seal.
