Life Prediction Technologies Inc. (LPTi) is a knowledge-based company specializing in formulating prognostics and health management (PHM) based life cycle management strategies for gas and steam turbine systems, sub-systems and their components.
LPTi uses meso-mechanics (microstructural modeling) approach for residual life prediction and devising inspection based life cycle management strategies for components in rotating equipment in the power plant units where equipment parts may not be visually accessible for routine inspection or may have exceeded their design life or may be cracking prematurely due to a variety of reasons during service.

Success Stories: By implementing the solution provided by LPTi, one of our key clients was able to extend the life of W-101 fleet of engines well beyond the OEM recommended life limits. The clent was also able to save on capital spending by deferring the capital investment costs while minimizing operational risks at the same time. Instead of spending $40 million to replace all life expired discs in the fleet of 42 W-101 engines, and has only spent approximately $ 0.5 Million on an annual basis for the last five years.

Testimonial: "LPTi, a prognostic company in Ottawa, Canada successfully executed a project with PDVSA involving residual life prediction and life extension of W-101 turbine engines for a fleet of 43 W-101 turbines located at Maracaibo in Venezuela. LPTi engineers assessed the damage tolerance of life expired w-101 discs and devised a safe inspection interval strategy using their meso-mechanics based fracture mechanics algorithms. This technology allowed PDVSA to implement a retirement for cause approach to disc life cycle management in the field....
