INFORMATION PRODUCTS
MDA provides businesses and professionals with electronic information solutions that accelerate the selling, conveyancing, mortgage financing, and insurance of properties. Our property information products are used by the financial services sector in North America and in Europe, providing lawyers, realtors, lenders, insurers, appraisers, and others with the essential information they need to conduct property related transactions.
Property Information
This includes all of our real property related information, information management, and decision support products and services. These products and services are typically used by businesses and professionals involved in real-estate related transactions such as the buying, selling, conveyancing, mortgage financing, and insurance of properties.
Geospatial Services
MDA's Geospatial Services provides Earth observation data, information products and services from aerial platforms and the majority of commercially available radar and optical satellites.
These products and services are used globally for resource mapping, environmental monitoring, offshore oil and gas exploration, ice reconnaissance, maritime surveillance and disaster management.
MDA holds the exclusive distribution rights to Canada's RADARSAT-1 and RADARSAT-2 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites. MDA is responsible for RADARSAT-2 operations. RADARSAT-2 offers unparalleled imaging flexibility, dual polarization and full polarimetric imaging options, high-resolution and a highly responsive programming and delivery ground segment.
INFORMATION SYSTEMS
MDA's Information Systems are typically turnkey solutions developed around proprietary and purchased technologies and services, tailored to the individual requirements of our military, civilian, and commercial customers.
Our extensive capabilities in program management, business engineering, systems engineering, hardware and software development, systems integration, and ongoing support services allow us to offer our customer complete solutions that meet their often demanding operational requirements.
Space Missions
For more than two decades, human space flight has been supported by advanced robotics developed by the Space Missions unit of MDA. We have combined complex robotics with control software to develop the Space Shuttle's Canadarm and the Mobile Servicing System for the International Space Station. Continuous support, upgrades and improvements ensure these mission-critical systems meet on-orbit requirements. MDA's reputation for innovative solutions has been further enhanced with the development of an extension to the Canadarm for on-orbit inspection of the Shuttle. This new arm will play a vital role in NASA's Return to Flight and all future shuttle missions.

MDA's satellite solutions provide responsive and reliable access to space. Our new generation of innovative, small satellite missions offer turn-key systems for earth observation, surveillance of space, information delivery and space science. MDA is also a leading supplier of commercial satellite payloads, systems and subsystems including antennas, digital, microwave and power equipment for communications and remote sensing satellites.
From large-scale projects for earth observation like RADARSAT-2, to our fast-growing small satellite capability, MDA provides satellite solutions for private sector and government clients around the world. Leveraging our expertise in robotic technology and space-borne sensing systems, MDA is developing sophisticated systems for on-orbit servicing.
Our US operations specialize in the design and development of space qualified software and hardware systems for space and defence applications, as well as the provision of geospatial information services. On Earth we are taking our experience in space robotics into new areas of advanced medical robotics and automated mining.
MDA engages in extensive Research and Development to maintain and advance our leading position in space robotics.
We undertake R - D in-house and through a network of relationships with universities and research institutions to provide our customers with innovative solutions at the leading edge of technology.
Integrated Information Solutions
MDA has an enduring history of equipping large organisations with operational integrated information solutions for surveillance, intelligence, decision support, transportation, land and property, and other integrated applications. We offer these solutions to customers worldwide through operations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Monitoring and Surveillance Systems - MDA's airborne systems capabilities have been at the leading edge of operational and experimental surveillance programs for more than three decades.
MDA delivers operational airborne imaging systems based on synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). These systems are used for wide area surveillance as well as target tracking, in both maritime and inland applications. Our systems operate at a long stand-off range and provide strip maps as well as spotlight modes. Moving target detection and tracking are accomplished using advanced, radar signal and data processing algorithms and architectures.
MDA also offers both systems and services for overall unmanned airborne solutions that provide airborne surveillance information to our customers, both civilian and military.
Other MDA airborne capabilities include radar simulations facilities, multi-aircraft installation, mission planning, ground-based image exploitation (both fixed and mobile), target classification, automatic target recognition and data fusion.
MDA's imaging satellite ground systems collect, record, catalog, process and store image data acquired by satellites, of the Earth's surface, and convert that data into information, which is archived and distributed.
MDA has built the majority of non-classified imaging satellite ground systems in operation around the world today and continues to develop and deliver associated upgrades to many of these existing centres. MDA's satellite ground systems handle data from many of the non-classified satellites in operation today allowing us to offer our customers solutions based on the combination of satellites most suitable to meet their requirements.
MDA is recognised internationally and organises and hosts biennially the Earth Observation Business Network Conference. This conference is attended by a wide cross section of suppliers, customers, and other industry experts from around the world.
