Plitron Manufacturing Inc is the market leader in Canada for
toroidal power transformers, and one of the top five firms
in terms of sales volume, and market penetration in the North
American market.
Plitron has accounts and sales representatives covering all
major geographic regions and industries throughout North
America.
Internationally, Plitron has recently started exporting to
Japan and New Zealand. In 1996 Plitron signed a joint venture
agreement with Salzer Controls Limited in India to manufacture
toroidal transformers for the Indian market and exports.
Plitron has developed a complete range of toroidal transformers
including power transformers, isolation transformers,
three-phase transformers, current transformers, distribution
transformers, chokes, inductors, sound distribution transformers
and audio output transformers.
Plitron's toroidal transformers are distinguished by advanced
design, precision manufacturing, and recognized quality in our
market segments.
Plitron has been designing and manufacturing toroidal
transformers since 1983. Plitron has a staff consisting in total
of 75 people, including qualified engineers and technologists.
Plitron has a ''Standard Range'' of toroidal transformers for
power, isolation, and audio applications. Much of the work
undertaken by Plitron is for custom designs and manufacturing.
Custom Products are designed using in-house proprietary software.
Prototypes are manufactured under process control, tested, and
then sent to the customer for evaluation and technical approvals.
Engineering documentation is created and prepared for use in
manufacturing.
Process engineering and improvements to processes are constantly
being developed. Manufacturing utilizes state-of-the-art
toroidal winding machines, occassionally modifed by Plitron to
optimise performance and ensure repeatable quality.
Training programmes have been developed by Plitron. Training
in technical skills, management skills, computer skills, and
quality are ongoing.
Manufacturing scheduling and material purchasing is planned
using networked computer systems, including MRPII and CRP
planning modules.
Quality Assurance consists of a full time manager, currently
developing an ISO9001 manual. Testing and inspection activities
are carried out by qualified technologists.
Research and Product development is ongoing at Plitron. The
company has received grants from the National Research Council
of Canada.
The most recent products introduced by Plitron include Printed
Circuit Board Mount Transformers; Autoformers; Current
Transformers. Other new product introductions will be made on
an ongoing basis.
