Michael Renwick has worked for 40 years for processing, food manufacturing and marketing firms and has held senior management positions in many areas including managing director, executive director and vice president responsibilities including overall management, international marketing and sales management, strategic planning, new product research and development, corporate awareness and brand building programs and new product launches.
Mr. Renwick holds an Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Biology (1972) and a Masters in Business Administration (1976) both from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
He has broad credentials in the biological, technical and
business aspects of the fisheries and agri-food resources of
British Columbia, Canada and parallel experience with a broad
range of industrial, manufacturing and consumer product
industries domestically and internationally.
He is qualified in providing evaluation, strategic input and
bottom-line direction to a broad range of businesses and in
crafting new strategies and action plans to deliver fast,
productive and value added results.
Past clients include the United Nations/FAO, the Federal
Government of Canada (Western Diversification, Transport and
Industry Canada), the Provincial Government of British Columbia
(Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food), the Bank of
Montreal, Deloitte - Touche Management Consultants, and a wide
range of business associations and private companies.

Technology Centre on behalf of the new Board of Directors
comprising five major industry associations.
¨ Assessment on the motivation and interest of a processor
and marketing sector to institute and develop industry-wide grade
(quality) standards for international markets.
¨ Conduct an international product and market
diversification project for a company's core product line,
product and marketing base.
¨ Strategic evaluation of a company's distribution and
trading business and the owner's future role in its development.
Facilitate and activate the development of an incremental change
process to deal with the company's current and future supply,
sales, location, personnel and funding challenges.
¨ Preparation of a funding submission to a Federal
Government Ministry to conduct a product and market focused
project for value-added products for the Japanese market.
¨ Provide a raw material sourcing and sales research
assessment for new further processed new products for penetration
into North America and Pacific Rim countries.

a BC resource sector industry.

procedures manuals for an industry resource sector as a

acquiring and prepare a business plan for future construction
and operation of a pilot commercial operation for dried food
products.
¨ Finalize and reposition an industry Exporters' Guide.
¨ Define objectives and guidelines for an industry
Association's Export Co-Promotion Programs targeted at brand
owners in export markets.
¨ Assessment of the feasibility of and subsequent project
management of a food product promotion integrating a 9 company
supplier consortium providing products to four divisions of U.S.
Safeway Inc. resulting in record sales and margins for all
parties.
¨ Preparation of a review of the investment opportunities,
acquisition and joint venture candidates in two primary resource
sectors.
¨ Development and co-ordination of a planning project to
assess a major under-utilised resource in B.C. Provide an action
plan and future strategy to benefit the client, its suppliers,
plant workers and coastal communities.
¨ Preparation of a Business Plan brief and search for
funding initiatives for a multi-million dollar new plant
operation in B.C. through Federal, Provincial and Municipal
Government Ministries and Agencies.
¨ Provide a market dynamics assessment in North American
target markets of a fishery resource and to evaluate the
benefits and barriers to key market segments of the company's
development of an interactive electronic information and
interactive commodity exchange trading system for food products.
¨ Conduct an international assessment of the markets for
and competitors to a resource sector industry association and
provide a strategic view and recommendations to position its
growing resource base towards products in demand in key markets
in future years.
¨ Conduct an investigation into the historical flows of
Agri-food products into and out from the North West Coast of
Canada, assemble and analyze statistics and views of
stakeholders, and report the findings and recommendations on
air, land and marine transportation infrastructure needed to
facilitate economic growth in the region through stimulation of
incremental processing, new enterprises and direct export of
seafood and agricultural products from the northern BC city of
Prince Rupert.
¨ On behalf of an international investment group, to
conduct a comprehensive evaluation of an international consumer
