Business Description
Scan Conversion Services Inc. (SCSI) is a service company
providing large format, high resolution scanning, in conjunction
with auto-raster to vector conversion technology. On a large
volume scale SCSI converts legal and utility, contour, forestry,
geological, land use and hydrographic maps to AutoCAD, DXF,
Intergraph, ARC/Info and various raster formats. SCSI also
converts engineering drawings to various CAD systems.
Project Opportunities
SCSI is seeking to act as a subcontractor in projects which
involve the conversion of large volumes of maps and/or
engineering drawings to CAD, Digital Mapping, GIS or raster
based mapping for EDMS systems. SCSI is confident that a
substantial benefit to a partner will be achieved based on the
following points: Since it's inception SCSI has converted thousands of maps and
drawings to vector and raster based files for CAD, Digital
Mapping and GIS systems. A keen knowledge of complying to a
clients specifications in a large volume situation has been the
result. Put simply, we know how to get manually produced maps
and drawings into a structured format which the client can use
immediately.
Through an existing network of alliances with engineering,
surveying, imaging, cartographic, map publishing, AM/FM and GIS
consulting companies, SCSI is in a very strong position to offer
a wide range of solutions for mapping and drawing conversion and
data structuring. On-going marketing efforts with these existing
partners will be carried out in the future and a requirement for
additional specialized services is anticipated.
SCSI has been benchmark tested and has bid successfully for
projects with many large, private and public companies and all
levels of government in Canada and the US. In many cases SCSI
has far out performed it's competitors in complying to the
client's specifications with a high level of quality. This is a
distinction upon which SCSI prides itself.

Weyerhaeuser Canada, from mylar to
Intergraph .DGN format. Contract was done
underbudget and ahead of schedule
To date, have scanned in over 11,000 drawings for
Public Works - Gov't Services Canada, Dept. for
Indian - Northern Affairs
Was a subject of study by BC Hydro and was found
to be at least 50% cheaper than other means of
drawing conversion. Have been a subcontractor
for BC Hydro for the past 12 years
Testimonial: I was recently involved in a raster to vector
project with Scan Conversion. This project
involved the scanning and subsequent vectorizing
of some 900 mapsheets. In addition to this were
edge matching, cleaning, noding and proper
feature representation allowing us to link these
new digital maps to our current feature code
database.
The project was an astounding success and
Scan Conversion delivered on spec, on time and
even under budget; as there work progressed they
became more efficient with their processes and
were able to pass along some of the cost saving
to us.
They are reliable, flexible to change and
open to criticism and I wouldn€™t hesitate in
using them again should the need arise. If you
had any further questions about this company I€™d
be willing to speak with you about them.
