Success Stories: Softarc Inc. Tradeshow Demonstrations
Softarc Inc. designs an e-mail software package
called First Classâ. Softarc exhibits at numerous
trade shows throughout the year and uses a Rear
Projection SMART Board in the booth to
demonstrate its software. Within the booth there
are several desktop stations and a Rear
Projection SMART Board in the center with
approximately 25 chairs for an audience.
Attendees can try the e-mail software at one of
the stations, and their messages are easily seen
by the audience on the large screen. The SMART
Board helps Softarc show their software to a
number of potential customers at the same time. A
first class job.

Diesel Technology Company Technical Presentations
Diesel Technology Company manufactures injectors
for diesel engines. Staff regularly use a SMART
Board to give internal and external
presentations. Engineers use the Board during
project management meetings and brainstorming
sessions. "An employee who is comfortable walking
up to a traditional whiteboard and sketching or
writing ideas is comfortable using the SMART
Board." The Board allows everyone to participate
in the meeting instead of relying on the person
with the mouse and the keyboard to input ideas.
It is also very effective for giving customer
presentations because the presenter is able to
interact with the information, whether it is
company background information or complex new
product designs. The SMART Board is a sales tool
that adds impact and emphasis to Diesel's
technical presentations.

Multilin Inc. Visual Presentations
Multilin Inc. manufactures electronic motor
protection relays. Staff at Multilin find the
SMART Board particularly useful for giving
customer presentations especially since it is
difficult to see the fine detail of their
products on a regular computer monitor. The Board
allows Multilin engineers to enlarge computer
images and draw attention to particular
components by writing over top of the image.
Because of the variety of models manufactured by
Multilin, focusing customer attention on the
different components of each design on a large,
interactive display is an effective way to
present customers with their purchase options.

Bowden Grandview School Classroom Presentations
The Bowden Grandview School utilizes SMART Boards
in its presentations by both teachers and
students. Courseware is developed on the computer
and then presented to students on the Boards.
Teachers show lecture materials by projecting
computer slides onto the SMART Board and simply
moving through the lecture by touching on the
screen to bring up new slides. This interaction
with the information adds excitement to classes
and motivates the students to learn.
