Company Description: Trecan was established in 1962 as the Canadian subsidiary of Thermal Research, USA. In 1986 a controlling interest was purchased by MBB Mechanical Services. In 1993 MBB merged with Trecan to form MBB-Trecan. In 1996 Trecan was sold to one of the owners of MBB and renamed Trecan Combustion Limited.
Trecan specializes in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning industrial combustion and incineration equipment and systems. The product range includes incineration systems for: medical waste; pharmaceutical waste; industrial solid waste; industrial liquid waste and fumes and waste gases; animal crematoriums; high efficiency industrial burners; Snowmelters; fired heaters; and submerged combustion
equipment. Incineration systems include waste heat recovery and flue gas scrubbers to meet local air quality regulations. The above product range was generally fairly well mixed up until the late 1980's and early 1990's. During this transition period, the demand for Snowmelters started to increase, and since the early 1990's, Snowmelters have become our main product, with stationary Snowmelter melting capacities from 20 ton/hour up to 1200 ton/hour, and portable Snowmelters ranging in melting capacity from 20 ton/hour up to 500 ton/hour.
Geographic Marketing Areas: The firm's traditional market prior to the late 1980's has been 80% Canada, 15% USA and 5% other exports. From the late 1990's when Snowmelters became Trecan's main product, the geographic marketing area started to shift to the USA, with roughly 55% of sales, 40% in Canada, and 5% outside North America. In the last five to six years, the mix has changed to roughly 33% USA, 32% Canada, 33% Russia, and 2% China. As of late 2010, Trecan Snowmelters are working in the larger cities and airports in the snow belt of North America, and the main cities in Russia and China.
