Venmar Ventilation inc. is the largest manufacturer of air-treatment equipment for the North American residential market. Year after year, Venmar confirms its leadership role through innovative ideas that have been growing now for more than two decades.
A Company with a Purpose
As the ranking company when it comes to everything to do with indoor air-quality products and as the leader in related categories, our goal is to provide every Canadian home, as well as every home in our emerging markets, with a better, healthier, and more comfortable environment. And we are able to achieve this goal through excellence, innovation, and commitment to our customers.
Year In, Year Out
Venmar Ventilation started out as a distributor of simple ventilation systems for the prefab and mobile home market. We then turned to systems specially designed for handymen distributed through building material centers.
In 1978, Venmar Ventilation decided to invest significantly in research and development and the Company began producing its own products. In 1987, we launched a line of heat recovery ventilators. In 1992, we acquired Conservation Energy Systems (CES) in Saskatoon, which enabled us to extend our expertise to the commercial sector. In 1993, we set up Venmar Ventilation HDH to develop, manufacture, and market a unique line of range hoods, completed in 1996 by the acquisition of Ferpac, which already manufactured range hoods and bathroom ventilators. In the meantime, we were expanding our commercial market to the acquisition of Aston Industries.
1995 stood out as a key year for Venmar, with an offer from the American company Nortek to become part of this multinational. Nortek, with some 12 200 employees in 23 companies around the world, opened the doors for us to international markets, which we had already been coveting. While Nortek already had a subsidiary in Toronto (Broan Ltd.), they decided to set headquarters in Drummondville and entrusted management of all its Canadian companies within the residential group to Pascal Ialenti, the new president of Venmar.
Becoming part of the Nortek group led to restructuring, so Venmar decided to drop the commercial line in order to strengthen our position in local and central ventilation and with related residential products. In 1996, a new company €”Innergy tech €”was added to the family. A specialist in the area of energy recovery technologies, Innergy Tech is the only Canadian manufacturer of the enthalpy exchangers required for humidity recovery. Lastly, in 1998, Nortek acquired NuTone, handing over management of its Canadian subsidiary to Venmar Ventilation inc. Venmar then merged the two Toronto companies to form Broan-NuTone Canada Inc.
Since 1997, Venmar has turned its attention towards export markets, which offer increasingly interesting and promising potential for expansion.
Venmar: Today and Tomorrow
Venmar celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2003. Slowly and steadily, our Drummondville company has won its place in the field of indoor air quality, becoming, over the last decade, the leader. Venmar targets the highest quality standards to deliver cutting-edge technology in ventilating the home, kitchen, bathroom, basement, or attic.
It's easy to understand why the Ontario Lung Association has joined with Venmar in promoting, marketing, and selling our ventilation products: they have recognized the benefits ventilation systems offer in fighting respiratory disease.
Based on its products, a sound financial situation, and strengths of its many companies, Venmar remains one of the Quebec companies dedicated to innovation, which delivers benefits to consumers here and abroad.
