Sylvia McConnell, the President, has been a graphic designer for
over twenty-seven years. Her early design experience included
print design, corporate branding and advertising. For over ten
years she developed her own successful design business
specializing in corporate image before joining the Corel
Corporation where she designed marketing materials for the
company's products and services.
At the Corel Corporation she began to focus her talents on web
design and was responsible for the design of over eight
corporate web sites, most notably Designer.com and
OfficeCommunity.com. The success of both sites permitted her to
advance to the position of Product Development Manager where she
directed the monthly updating and future development of the
OfficeCommunity.com site.
At AMEC Technologies she designed a wide variety of web projects
such as Zubalu; an educational web portal, product sites for
Spectrocan, Treats and the OFI Group, a JAVA application for The
National Judisual Institute and GIS applications for the
Tippecanoe Police Department and an International Oil and Gas
Exploration project.
Sylvia's experience has also included the designing the EDDENet
website for Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency
(PMRA). Through the design of this Government 0n-Line project
Sylvia developed a full understanding of the Treasury Board of
Canada Secretariat's Common Look and Feel (CLF) Standards for
the Internet and allowed her to develop testing procedures to
ensure GOL compliance.
Sylvia has developed a user-centric design approach that helps
the client to quickly define their target audience, goals and
site mandate. Her strong background in web site usability,
accessibility, web trends research, demographics and the
psychographics results in web sites that are visually
stimulating, easy to understand and clear to navigate.
In March of 2003, Sylvia decided to launch WebView Designs to
meet the growing demand of many of her corporate clients for
professional design services, on a contract basis. Sylvia
continues to develop her web design skills with a strong focus
on Macromedia Flash which allows her to design the best user
experience with unlimited creative possibilites. She has also
expanded her client services to include brand and marketing
materials design, to help her clients strengthen their brand and
ensure the success of every project. From small start up clients
to larger corporate clients such as AMEC Earth - Environmental
(promotional Flash e-card) and Spectrocan (presentation design),
everyone has come to rely on her experience, talent and
dedication.
