Vision
€œDEW will be recognized world-wide for its cost effective, innovative and customer-focused products for Vehicle Ballistic Protection, Vehicle Re-life, Re-role and Specially Equipped Vehicle sub-systems, Automated Airport Passenger Loading Bridges and Integrated Logistic Support.€?
Defense
In defense, DEW€™s core business is the design, prototyping, testing, manufacture and follow-on support of Special Equipment Vehicle (SEV) kits. SEV kits convert a base chassis or a military shelter or van body into a specialist vehicle such as a command post, a mortar kit or an ambulance. SEV kits include anything that goes on or into a vehicle, trailer or shelter. DEW€™s core business extends to the manufacture of trailers, shelters, vehicle and equipment spare parts, and a wide variety of military products from toboggans to insulated canteens.
DEW has played a major role in most major truck programs in Canada and is well positioned for major roles in the Medium Support Vehicle System, the next major logistic truck program in Canada. DEW offers SEV and shelter solutions directly to DND and through major Primes on such projects as Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), Nuclear Biological and Chemical Decontamination Phase II and in support of international and NATO programs.
DEW is the pre-eminent firm in Canada for vehicle re-life and re-role. Previous work includes Depot Level Inspect and Repair contract on the Armored Vehicle General Purpose Fleet (AVGP) and a fleet upgrade on the Leopard Tank Thermal Sight Program. DEW is now completing a multi-year M113 Life Extension Program for improved mobility, firepower and protection and is mid way in the Bison Re-Role program which extends out to 2009.
Armor
DEW€™s involvement with armor technologies began in 1984 and its armor unit has since tailored its products to meet ever evolving customer and partners€™ requirements, while maintaining expertise in traditional steel and aluminum armor systems. This includes protection against ballistic, mine and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). The Armor Unit specializes in offering one-stop shopping for the design, engineering, prototyping, manufacture and support of large scale high-tech ceramic composite armor systems.
DEW has designed and manufactured thousands of modular add-on ceramic armor kits and customized panels for a broad range of wheeled and tracked military vehicles.
In addition to being the go-to supplier to the Canadian Department of National Defense (DND) for most armor requirements, DEW continues to work with several key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) to find solutions to evolving protection and IED requirements.
DEW is the supplier of the exterior ballistic and IED protection package for the US Stryker BCT program and success on this program has firmly established DEW€™s reputation and capability. DEW also designs and manufactures integral armor for cab-for-cab replacement on trucks and €œA€? and €œB€? kits as part of the US Army Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS) as well as counter mine and IED kits to meet threats up to and including STANAG Level 4 and custom threats. Our latest product is B2, a technology based on ceramic composite over a steel core suitable for high IED threats. In addition, we are now able to offer mine blast attenuating seat systems to protect soldiers from the shock transfer from mine strikes. These seats are manufactured by DEW under license from ArmorWorks.
DEW manufactures armor in both Canada and has the proven capacity to ramp up quickly to meet urgent requirements. Our in-house R - D program, including our in house ballistic range, combined with our strategic partners and suppliers, ensures that we can consistently deliver products to meet challenging operational requirements.
Dewbridge Airport Systems
DEW Engineering recognized the growth of regional airlines and was the first to develop and market passenger boarding systems for this market segment which include radial drive bridges, modular walkways, and valet baggage systems. Dewbridge sold its first bridge to American Eagle in 1998 and installed it in Bentonville, Arkansas. The Radial DewbridgeTM is suitable for commuter aircraft up to narrow-bodied jets with the Dew Valet baggage system an accessory for access to planeside baggage.
In response to a request from Westjet, DEW developed the Over-The-WingTM (OTW) bridge that allows passengers to embark and disembark from both the front and rear doors of an aircraft, and currently has two installations in Canada. In consultation with United Airlines (UAL) DEW developed the DoubleDocker bridge system consisting of an integrated Visual Guidance Docking SystemTM (VGDS) with a fully automated front bridge and an automated OTW. The first five systems are being installed in Denver, Colorado. With a significant patent portfolio, Dewbridge owns all intellectual property associated with the DoubleDocker Bridge automation system.
Dewbridge has installations in over 65 airports across North America and continues to support them with full parts and service. The bridg
