Since 1971, the focus of the firm has remained the same: consulting services for people and the environment. Our goal as
consultants is to contribute to the preservation and enhancement
of socially viable communities, improving corporate environmental
responsibility and supporting organizations to manage transition
and change. Our consulting services contribute to the quality of
life in the communities where we work by minimizing adverse
social and environmental impacts; planning for the delivery of
community and consulting services which are essential to healthy,

The Environmental Information Systems (EIS) group was established
at DPRA to support on-going activities with the applications and
advantages of current information technologies. The goal of the
EIS group is to provide comprehensive services to the
environmental community that enhance their ability to understand,
utilise and apply the information they use in daily management,
analytical and operational activities.
Staff of the EIS group have over twelve years experience in the
management, administration, design and development of information
systems, related to environmental issues, concerns and
applications. Resources available include complete systems
life-cycle analysis and design, user needs assessments, database
design, development and implementation, the application and
training of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) technology.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Information management
systems available through DPRA and affiliated firms include: Arc/Info, Arc/View, MapInfo, MicroStation, ESRI Map Objects, ESRI
Internet Mapper; database software including MS Access and
Oracle; programming languages including C++, Visual Basic, HTML
and SQL; and dynamic web development applications and search
engines.
