Success Stories: In 2007, Greystone Design + Communications was asked by one of the world€™s leading retailers – Wal-Mart in Canada – to create a unique and compelling food offering in Supercentres. Greystone planned, developed and managed the overall marketing communications plan for the food side of the business including signing materials, package design of selected private label products and established signing best practices and installation guidelines to ensure executional excellence in every store. We liaised with senior management, food buyers, creative services, operations, fixtures, store planning, risk management and loss prevention, associate communications, legal, waste management, ISD, store managers and associates. We were also a key contact for product vendors (Vantage, Maple Leaf Foods, Tyson), printers (Colormark, Dana, Printmate, Blanc), regulators/compliance (Health Check, BIC), label manufacturers (Interlabel Systems, Bizerba), Instore TV digital signage producers (ShopCast TV), French AOR (Allard Johnson) and other external designers (Derry Designs) for programs related to Your Fresh Market. Greystone was also asked to develop a brand new Shelf Signing program. We evaluated Wal-Mart€™s existing shelf signing program including the cost of existing print, hardware, labour and ink usage and compared it to a newly designed Shelf Signing program. The cost savings were significant and Wal-Mart Canada approved the program. The program was designed to support Wal-Mart's corporate strategy, minimizes the burden on resources, create visual excitement at the shelf, was sustainable and recycleable and differentiate them from the competition. The test was so successful that they continue to roll this program out in all future stores.
