The Prince Edward Island Food Technology Centre (FTC) is dedicated to the development of new and improved food products and processes on behalf of clients from PEI and beyond. FTC offers a broad range of services to the food processing and bioresource industries. Bioresource upgrading is the new wave of development in the food industry and FTC is on the leading edge in the development of new uses of primary resources. Training programs in Quality Management, Food Safety, HACCP Implementation, product development, sensory analysis, sanitation and laboratory management are provided.
The PEI Food Technology Centre has achieved ISO 9001:2000 (International Organization for Standardization) Quality System registration for all of its services. Our microbiology laboratory analyses are accredited by Standards Council of Canada and conforms with requirements of CAN-P-4E (General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025)). FTC now has a Drug Establishment Licence issued by Health Canada for microbial testing of Pharmaceuticals.
