Most of the general public does not understand anything about the Old Catholic Church. The reason the Roman Catholic Church does not recognise our Catholicity (while at the same time acknowledging that we possess valid Orders and Eucharist) is because it is not under the authority of Rome(Pope) and do not follow many of its diciplines. We honor the Pope as Patriarch of the West and the first among all other bishops. Let me remined the RC that total alligence to the Roman Catholic Church does not make one Catholic. We are Catholic and hope that they would stop putting a wedge here. Our priests are validly ordained just like any of the RC men. thanks Bp Tony In Christ.

I have know Bishop Terry Mertick, for twenty some years, and he has been through some difficult times, but all the trials and tribulations have been to Terry's gaining strength where it would have destroyed others. Remaining always kind generous and truly a Priest he is a benefit to his calling. I believe that people do not choose to join the Priesthood like an occupation, but that some are chosen by God and regardless of the things they have done we should remember that the Lord chose some of the most unlikely souls to do His work.

The Rt. Reverend Terry Mertick, was recently consecrated a bishop to oversee this mission, and He was the best choice a kind, generous person and the perfect sheppherd. He has done a wounderful job, with the support of all those who work under him.

Recently the Diocese of London released a press release falsely stating that this man is not a priest, these are malicious and slanderous statements, I was a witness and participated as an assistant to the Archbishop Gilles Tremblay of Quebec. The consecration took place in the historical Roman Catholic Church of St. Josephs on the Mount in London Ontario Canada. Terry was elevated to the episcopacy on October 7th 2005, with Tremblay as the principal consecrator and a Orthodox Patriarch and Archmandraic assistiing. A reporter from the London Free Press attended to meet the Archbishop prior to the consecration. A priest from the Roman Catholic Diocese of London a Father Micheal Bachard rector of kings college visited and was instrumental in granting permission for the use of the church. The ceremony was done using the Roman Pontifical. Another priest from Montreal but attached to the diocese of Portafofina in Italy was consecrated too. The previous day Three deacons from the Ukrainian Catholic Church were Ordained to the Holy Priesthood by Ab. Tremblay. I object to the many detractors who outright lie by making malicious claims they have no knowledge of, I am ashamed that the Diocese of London failed to make inquires before issuing the malicious and false statements to the media. So in reality it is fact that Father Mertick is a Bishop with valid faculties, and true Apostolic Succession a direct line to Saint Peter. There were many witnesses to the consecration, such that it cannot be denied. Terry was is a great priest and with his empathy for others I know he will overcome all the difficulties that he may face. Nate Edwards London Ont.

Father Terry is an excellent priest and should be commended for his diligent work with the Missionary Church of St. Francis of Assisi, Though he often is persecuted for his dedicated work with the Missions prison ministry, and social justice initiative. For those who have left negative comments posted on this site, they are simply Father's detractors who have been on a harassment campaign against him, which is totally unfair to him. Father Terry simply does Christ's work and those who know him know a kind gentle priest... doing what he can for those in need. I personally know many individuals who have been helped by through this priest and his ministry.
