Operating name: Trimay

Trimay ® Wear Plate Ltd. produces wear-resistant metallic claddings on steel plate and pipe, with a focus on research and development and quality. The resources employed to manufacture Trimay® overlays are reflective of high quality; for example, machinery and processes are developed in-house to promote a consistent weld formation that minimizes changes in the substrate material throughout the welding processes. Furthermore, a SAW process (plate) and an FCAW process (in unison with patented and proprietary machinery) that is used for cladding the interior of pipe lines, transitions and elbows. Trimay® is also a member of the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada wear consortium, and has exclusive access to some alloys that outperform some forms of tungsten in turbulent (slurry) environments. Research and development, geared toward offering the best wear product, has been the foundation of the company for the last 50 years, and will continue to be for the foreseeable future.

Wear plates, Screed plates, Alloy wires - electrodes, Hydrotransport pipelines

Technology:
Submergered arc, bulk overlay welding process (SAW) is used to apply proprietary alloy formulations onto plate. Flux-cored Arc Welding (FCAW) plus patented and proprietary equipment, is used to alloy clad pipe lines, transitions and elbows.

Sector:
Plant Information: Total Plant Size (Areas sq ft): 7 acre yard; 48,000 sqft - production.
Distribution of Employees
2 locations in Edmonton Alberta. 10 employees for pipe, 40 for plate.
Unique Applications: Creative wear solution implementation. We have installed 'tiered' wear solutions that transitions between up to 3 grades of alloys to match the severity of wear in that particular application. We have accomplished this with a) bucket wheels, b) mining skip cars, c) aggregate slick lines for material transport to underground mines, d) tunnel boring machine (floor - wall plates) e) screed plates (bullnoses vs extensions).
Hydrotransport lines have minimal difference between joints.... unique in quality due to minal elongation and distortion caused throughout the alloy cladding process. This translates to properly aligned pipe lines with longer-wearing seams and joints.
