SNC-Lavalin Defence Programs Inc (SLDPI) is an expert marine-oriented business unit of the SNC-Lavalin Group. Fenco MacLaren (the predecessor company to SLDPI) was formed to manage the Maritime Coastal Defence Vessel (MCDV) Project. This $650 million project provided the Canadian Navy with twelve vessels, seven operational payloads and several small shore-based facilities; on time, within budget and to specification.
Subsequently Fenco MacLaren received two contracts to provide total on-going support to the twelve MCDVs and two offshore supply type vessels. The contracts included project management, engineering design services, technical supervision for maintenance, logistics, procurement, and contracting services for sub-contracts to service providers. The latest iteration of this contract, now managed by SLDPI, is known as the Minor Warships and Auxiliary Vessel (MWAV) project and includes support for 21 Minor Warships and 22 Auxiliary vessels.
These total contracts are run by a small group of professionals with operational experience working out of offices in Halifax, Ottawa and Victoria.
SLDPI sub-contracts work with more than 600 service providers, the majority of whom are based locally in Halifax and Victoria. SLDPI maintains warehouses on the waterfront on both Coasts. We have experience in supporting our client's fleet on North America's sea coasts, in the Canadian Arctic and into the Caribbean and Europe. We take the responsibility to deliver projects and manage services on time and within budget.
We continue to exceed vessel availability targets.
Our operation is ISO 9000:2000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certified by BSI Registrar.
