in Coquitlam, BC Canada was equiped with 146 Viscous Dampers as part of a seismic upgrade. The new Port Mann Bridge when completed will be the widest long span steel arch bridge in the world.
St. Lawrence Seaway – Welland Canal Lift Bridge: The bridge deck is lifted up by counterweighted cables mounted on towers. The devices are Custom Compression Shock Absorbers with Progressive Damping used to protect the structure from runaway motors and brake failures. The Shock Absorbers are located under the underside of the lifting bridge
BC Place
