Chapman Communications provides strategic communications and general consulting advice to government, associations, industry and the not-for-profit sector clients. Known for providing advice and plans that are comprehensive and reflect real world realities, we draw on experience in journalism, government communications, industry and board work. Communications advice draws together an understanding of the public environment with in-depth comprehension about your operations and communications needs.
Other communications services include research and report writing, meeting facilitation, media relations and media training. General consulting work relies on developing a clear understanding of your needs, and in depth research into options and tools, all devised in conjunction with your input. Chapman Communications also provides facilitation services (English only) and has experience working with Aboriginal groups in this context as well. In addition to working with Government of Canada departments and agencies, the company has worked with Human Resource Sector Councils and educational institutions (the University of Ottawa through an HRSDC grant project).

Success Stories: The work I conduct in my company ranges far and wide - just the way I like it. Of late (2008-09), I have conducted several workshops for DFO and EC focussed on how to consider Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge in the implementation of the Species at Risk Act. I have also been active on the human resources file through work with some HR Sector Councils and with a specific project with a researcher from the University of Ottawa. I have developed some expertise in crisis management, and crisis communications management with an industry group. I also have experience working with the energy sector, including nuclear matters in both communications, public outreach (including Aboriginal), and project management (The Nuclear Liabilities Act, the regulatory environment for new build nuclear power plants and refurbishment of existing facilities). I am used to making sense of highly technical information and communicating that to non-technical audiences. My ability to handle different topics and a wide range of client demands comes from an eclectic background in government communications, general consulting and journalism (CBC Radio). I am an excellent writer, effective researcher, strong facilitator and engaging presentor who is easy to work with.

"With skill and insight Trudy effectively developed a communications approach for the nuclear waste file. Her expertise in communications and strong interpersonal skills enabled her to identify and understand the broad considerations and sensitivities important to the subject. She built the framework of a strategic communications plan to effectively communicate a highly technical subject to the general public. Her ability to balance communications objectives, highly technical material and the various organizational needs in government, was impressive."
